We are very happy all went well with the emergency landing here Wednesday afternoon. The pilot was very skilled and landed safely – and thankfully his propellor landed safely in New Polzeath too! It was reassuring to know he had just completed his refresher safety course in Exeter.
Our emergency evacuation procedures of the club house and the health club, were put to a successful test after we got the call from the fire brigade to evacuate as there was a plane with difficulties. This included a brave mother and two children who came out of the pool.
We were also very impressed with the response from the emergency services who were on site within 10 minutes of the phone call.
We thank the pilot and Mr Chapman who came to help move the aircraft off the airfield yesterday. Mr Chapman is a keen pilot and has always been extremely helpful with matters regarding the airstrip.
