When planning the Apartment project build we took inspiration from the surrounding landscape, used local stone for the walls and Kebony, an acclaimed sustainable alternative to tropical hardwood for the cladding and soffits. The beautiful Kebony cladding has mellowed in colour over the year, from its original deep brown to a more muted silver grey patina, allowing the buildings to seamlessly blend in with the stunning landscape.
With the environment in mind – we also installed ground source heat pumps which run both the underfloor heating and the hot water supply. The beautiful Sedum roof which can be spotted from the top of the drive – changes in colour from a deep, deep red in the winter to a lively green in the spring and summer. All apartments feature log burners and floor to ceiling sliding windows making the most of the beautiful views.
The ecological focus does not stop with the construction materials and interior designs:
We have chosen local Cornish Spiezia Organics to supply the soaps and cosmetics. Spiezia products are made by hand in Cornwall using herbs, flowers and oils (provenance as close as quality will allow). In 1999 Spiezia Organics was the first UK company to achieve 100% organic certification across the entire collection.
It seems fitting to celebrate our anniversary with a Trevibban sparkling wine from another local Cornish family business, who are using organic farming principles. The Cornish Sparkling wines have become well known throughout the country and this delicious newcomer will be no exception. Only a 20 minute drive from The Point, the stunning new Winery is set in the middle of the vineyard, with a fun Tasting Room and Terrace, Trevibban Mill is a perfect excursion on your visit to The Point.
