Cornwall is one of the UK’s top holiday destinations all year round and with Easter well on its way, perhaps you’re beginning to plan your break? There are a number of reasons to visit Cornwall over the Easter period and a variety of events and activities that might take your fancy…
Surfing – With the water temperature increasing each day, it’s soon to be the return of surf season in Cornwall. Many surf schools will be open from the Easter period onwards, so it’s the perfect time for you and your family to learn to surf at some of the most beautiful beaches in Cornwall (and indeed the world), including Daymar Bay and Hayle Bay at Polzeath; the latter has several surf schools and is a stone’s throw from us here at The Point At Polzeath.
Take a bike trip down the Camel Valley – This cycle route is continuously popular with locals and visitors alike and it’s not difficult to see why. The route stretches from the charming fishing village of Padstow to the historic market town of Bodmin and offers 18 miles (one way) of unparalleled scenery along the way. The route is traffic-free and predominantly flat, making it ideal for families and passes through the town of Wadebridge where there are a number of good cafes to enjoy refreshments.
Tintagel Castle – North of us at The Point is Tintagel Castle, linked to the legend of King Arthur and inspiring many artists and writers over the years. Over the Easter weekend, the castle will be hosting the ‘Easter Adventure Quest’, suitable for families and allowing you to enjoy incarnations of characters from the past and rewards for successful adventurers.
Bodmin’s Lanhydrock – Owned and cultivated by the National Trust, Lanhydrock is Cornwall’s largest National Trust property, surrounded by acres of rich woodland that overlaps into Cardinham woods beyond the property (also very beautiful and popular with locals). The property will be running a Cadbury Easter Trial between 1st April to 17th April – solve the clues and claim your prize whilst wandering the enchanting grounds.

Other one-off events over the Easter period:
St Endellion Easter festival (Near the ‘Doc Martin’ fishing village of Port Issac) 8th-16th April . Experience 9 days of classical music in the form of lunchtime concerts, singing and evening events.
Eden Project – The world famous Eden Project will be putting on their famous annual Easter egg hunt between 1st-17th April. They will also just have opened their Rainforest Canopy Walk which looks amazing. You can also have a go at completing their assault course and potentially win some great prizes along the way!
Truro’s Hall for Cornwall – The Hall for Cornwall is Cornwall’s central location for arts and performance. Over the Easter period the likes of journalist Owen Jones, Nell Gwyn, Justin’s Party and Dirty Dancing will be passing through at the venue, so be sure to get your tickets early!
The Point at Polzeath has a whole array of on-site activities, so on the days you feel like staying put, you can enjoy the restaurant and bar as well as the pool, gym, golf and tennis courts.
