And we certainly agree! The closing weeks of summer don’t have to mean doom and gloom – especially not in Cornwall. Need some Autumn inspiration for days and nights out? Read on to find out more about some of the events to look forward to in the coming months….
Falmouth Oyster Festival (12-15th October)

Falmouth Oyster Festival is a date in the diary for many locals – always a good indicator of a great event! Chefs from Michelin Star restaurant The Driftwood and Masterchef semi-finalist Dale Mckintosh will be doing demonstrations over the weekend and you can enjoy some of the best musical talent Cornwall has to offer, all accompanied by a majestic view of Falmouth docks and the ambiance of the much loved Event’s Square.
Looe Music Festival (29th September – 1st October)

The last of the Cornish summer music festivals, Looe is the perfect place to wrap up summer 2017 and definitely worth the cross county journey. Some of Cornwall’s finest local talent will be showcased alongside big names such as Reverend and the Makers Happy Mondays and LuLu. Pubs will be brimming, the beach will be buzzing – soak up the last of the summer sun.
Eden Marathon (15th October)
The Eden Project – there’s nowhere quite like it
You’ve probably heard of the UK’s most-visited garden – the Eden Project – a marvel for all the senses and a memorable and educational day out for kids and adults alike. Visit South America, Malaysia and West Africa for a day without even needing to leave the country as the huge 50 metre biomes recreate these climates and environments with astonishing likeness.
The Eden Half Marathon will also be taking place October 15th. Why not combine this as part of a wellness break with us at The Point? Our personal trainers and nutritionists can help rejuvenate you ready for the winter and for the half marathon!
Re-opening of the Tate Gallery in St Ives (14-15th October)

After a major expansion and months of anticipation, one of Britain’s most iconic galleries is re-opening its doors. Featuring work by Barbara Hepworth, Patrick Heron and Ben Nicholson to name a few, the Tate is one of Cornwall’s absolutely must-visit attractions and proof that Cornwall has as much artistic heritage to offer than any other county in England.
The Cornish Winter Fair (18th November)

A free event, the fair is held in the Exhibition Halls at the Royal Cornwall Events Centre in Wadebridge, not too far from us here at The Point, so you can pick up some unique Cornish Christmas presents to take home with you. They’ll also be craft stalls, pop-up cafes, and ‘Have a Go’ activities like grooming a pony and milking a cow. This is certainly more than just a shopping experience and offers visitors the chance to learn, do and discover.
Macmillan Christmas Fair (15-16th November)
Kick off the run up to Christmas at the Eden Project 15-16th November for their Macmillan Christmas Fair. The fair is an opportunity to get ahead with your Christmas shopping and they’ll be gifts galore in the form of clothing, jewellery, home accessories and an array of excellent food produce in the Food Hall. Past traders include Buttermilk Fudge, Cornish Sea Salt, Cornwall Cheese Co and St Austell Brewery amongst others and 15% of the stall takings will be donated to the charity.
North Cornwall Book Festival (5-8th October)

We’re really being spoiled this year at the North Cornwall Book Festival in St Endellion with names like Michael Morpurgo, Dame Hermione Lee and Maggie O’Farrell appearing as guest speakers as well as some of Cornwall’s best local writers. The magical church of St Endellion is oozing with inspirational energy and a rich history, so if you or your family and friends are budding creatives or lovers of literature, this is right up your street. The church is also a stone’s throw from the home of ITV’s Doc Martin.
Padstow Christmas Festival (7th – 10th December)
The Padstow Christmas Festival is a busy Christmas market with the traditional gift stores. What makes this so special is the showcasing of delicious local food which this coastline is so famous for. Top local chefs will be demonstrating their skills throughout the 4 days. This with traditional stalls, live music, carols and fireworks makes this event very unique and the perfect way to get into the spirit of Christmas.
