My stay at the Point at Polzeath for the New Year holiday
The Point at Polzeath is an amazing place where you can stay and have the time of your life. With so many things to do, I can’t start to tell you how much fun it is there.
I have been to The Point for several years now, although this was my first time coming here in the winter, and it was just as much fun as it is in the summer!
When I stayed at The Point over the New Year holiday, I stayed in a house called Gores Garrison; it sleeps 10, so my family stayed here with another family and their dog.
I loved staying in Gores Garrison for so many great reasons. First of all, because there were a lot of us staying here, (8 in total, plus the dog) it was great to all be able to gather around the large kitchen table and have happy, humorous chats over a delicious meal.
Additionally, the conservatory and the lounge were awesome because the adults and kids could have their separate spaces whenever they wanted to, but we could also all join up together and enjoy ourselves!
We managed to do a lot of things in a short period of time. We swam every day in The Point’s swimming pool and were always greeted joyfully by the staff.
We did a bike ride at Lanhydrock (National Trust) on New Year’s Eve and then in the evening we managed to stay awake until past midnight to celebrate 2018. We went to a party in the Bear Bar with a DJ and an actual dance floor! Before the party, we had dinner at our house and started dancing around the kitchen table to our favourite song by the group ‘Steps’!
Once we had finished our scrumptious dinner (and finished dancing!) we made our way up to the fantastic Bear Bar and were the first people to start the dancing on the dance floor. I found it so joyful to see people’s happy faces celebrating 2017 and the year to come!
On New Year’s Day we managed to walk from The Point to the lovely beach at Daymer Bay and back again, even if we were nearly blown away along the cliff tops! It was super seeing so many other people walking their dogs along the cliffs and on the beach.
Due to the high winds, the waves were too big and rough, so we were not able to go body-boarding until Tuesday (2nd January) when we splashed about and caught some waves! It’s great that the sea and the centre of Polzeath are only five minutes away from The Point by car (or 10-15 minutes’ walk)!
As we could only manage to stay at The Point for four nights this time, we did not get a chance to use the brilliant tennis courts and have an awesome game of tennis.
Additionally, The Point is very well known for golf and a while we were there a few summers ago, some friends who also stay there regularly, and my Grandfather, taught my brother and I how to play golf. When I was first introduced to golf at The Point I did not know what to do at all. I thought it would be a waste of time, although the staff were very encouraging! Since then, we normally go to the driving range and hit a few balls, but we did not manage that this time.
Golf is one of the many things that make up all the amazing things to do at The Point! You can be brilliant at golf, or have never played it before, and it doesn’t matter how old or young you are at The Point – everything is available for everyone!
I can’t put it in to words how great The Point is! As I said before, it doesn’t matter how young or old you are, I can ensure you that you will be happy at The Point! Whenever I go to The Point, all I can see is smiles. I can recommend The Point to you 100%!
I hope you have enjoyed reading this and I wish you the best in 2018!
