Planning a trip to the coast with your dog? We have some great news. Cornwall Council continues to take a relaxed approach to dogs on beaches, making Polzeath a brilliant spot for dog owners year-round.

Because Polzeath proudly holds Blue Flag status, there are a few specific dates and times to keep in mind for 2026. Here is everything you need to know to plan your walks:

Summer Guidelines (15 May – 30 September)

During the peak summer months, dogs are not permitted on the main beach between 10am and 6pm. This helps keep the busy shores safe and clean for everyone during the high season.

The Early Bird (and Night Owl) Advantage

The best part about the summer rules? You can still enjoy the sand every single day. Before 10am and after 6pm, the beach is completely open to dogs. It is the perfect excuse for a quiet sunrise run or a relaxing sunset stroll when the crowds have cleared out.

Winter Freedom (1 October – 14 May)

Once the summer season wraps up, the beach opens up entirely. From October through mid-May, dogs are welcome on Polzeath beach 24 hours a day, making it an incredible winter playground for your pets.

Plenty of Room to Roam

If you are staying with us at The Point and need a midday walk during the summer, you have plenty of options. We are dog-friendly, and the nearby coastal paths heading toward Daymer Bay offer stunning, restriction-free walks right on our doorstep.
