Polzeath Dog Walk

Cornwall Dog Ban Restrictions Relaxed

Dogs will be allowed on many of Cornwall’s beaches for more time over the summer months, including Polzeath, which is fantastic news for dog owners.

Big changes are being introduced this year by Cornwall Council after a public consultation in a bid to make dog bans more consistent on beaches across the county. Currently, 48 Public Space Protection Orders (PSPOs) are in place which limits when dogs are allowed on beaches typically being banned altogether from Easter Day – October which currently includes Polzeath.

The new ruling will see dog bans in force on PSPO beaches reduced to between 10 am and 6 pm between July 1st and August 31st. On the spot, fines of up to £100 will still be issued for anyone breaches these new restrictions.

These new rulings will include the local beaches of:

  • Polzeath
  • George’s Well (Padstow)

These new changes do not apply to beaches where there is not currently a PSPO in place where dogs are allowed all year round. These include the following local favourites:

  • Daymer Bay
  • Rock
  • Porthilly
  • Lundy Bay
  • Hawkers Cove (Padstow)

Those looking to take advantage of the relaxed rules and book a dog-friendly property we have a selection of pet-friendly accommodation, from 1 bedroom apartments to 5 bedroom holiday homes.
