With lively workshops for younger visitors, including a presentation from Horrible Histories author and illustrator Martin Brown, appearances from publishing legends such as Joanna Trollope and Jill Murphy, as well as readings from local Cornish authors, there’s an enticing calendar of events on offer. If you’re planning on attending a workshop, it’s advisable to book tickets early as they often sell out.Jesus Longboard Classic (Oct 13-14)Enjoy watching professional surfers riding the waves? The 11th Jesus Longboard Classic returns to Polzeath this year for an exciting weekend of noseriding and drop knee turns based out of the ‘Tubestation’ HQ next to Polzeath Beach. Contest categories include Men’s Open, Women’s Open, U18, 35+, 50+, and 60+ and there will be a surfers blessing on the Sunday morning before the contest.Halloweden (Oct 20-Nov 4)The Eden Project is putting on a series of magical activities over the half term period, including a beastly bazaar, spooky lairs and trails, ice skating rink, and giant pumpkin display. Newquay Zoo and Newquay Tretherras School have teamed up for a spooky (but suitable for all ages) murder mystery extravaganza where participants will be taken on a guided tour around the zoo that features some suspicious characters along the way.
