1. The Bear at The Point

Okay, you caught us. We might be slightly biased on this one. But even if we weren’t writing this blog, we would still be fighting for a table here.
Whatever the weather is doing outside, the atmosphere in here is always spot on. Warm, relaxed, and full of that specific Sunday feeling. The team focuses on sourcing the best Cornish beef and local produce, and the Yorkshire puddings are, frankly, architectural. It is the perfect option if you want to enjoy a serious meal without having to drive miles from your holiday cottage. Just stroll up, settle in, and let us look after you. 2. The St Kew Inn

If you were to ask a set designer to build the quintessential Cornish pub, it would look like the St Kew Inn. Tucked away inland, this 15th-century gem is all stone fireplaces, low beams, nooks and crannies.

3. The Atlantic

4. The Old Inn

If you are heading up onto Bodmin Moor for a wilder walk, The Old Inn is your destination. This is the highest pub in Cornwall, and they don’t do things by halves.
This is the place for the traditionalists: the lovers of a proper carvery where the portions are generous and the gravy is plentiful. It has a long history of welcoming weary travellers, and after a stomp across the moors, you will understand exactly why it has stood the test of time.
5. The Cornish Arms
St Merryn
Owned by Rick Stein, this isn’t about white tablecloths and seafood foam; it’s a proper village pub done right. St Merryn is a bit of a drive, but for roast aficionados, it is worth the journey.
They manage to strike a balance between high-quality cooking and a relaxed, unpretentious atmosphere. Expect excellent cuts of meat, perfectly roasted potatoes, and a wine list that encourages you to linger well into the afternoon.
6. The Pheasant

This one is a bit of an insider tip. Recently taken over by a new team of chefs, The Pheasant has quickly become a whisper on the foodie grapevine.
They’re putting a fresh, culinary stamp on the classics, focusing on seasonality and precision. If you are the type of person who appreciates the exact texture of a roast potato and the balance of a jus, this is the one for you.
7. Fern
Nanstallon
A newcomer to the scene, Fern is making waves for all the right reasons. Located in Nanstallon, it offers something fresh and exciting in the Sunday lunch landscape. As a newly opened spot, there is a lovely energy about the place and a team passionate about making their mark with great hospitality and even better food. It is well worth a visit before the secret gets out completely.
